Small corrections after base coat
February 19, 2006
The base coat always shows mercilessly were you still have some work to do. In my case I left some glue residues here and there and there was a gap at the bottom of the stack. Well, the glue residues were easily removed with some sanding and a glass fiber pencil. The stack was more work

I decided to fill it with Tamiya epoxy putty. This stuff is hard to work with. It tough to mix and it does not stick very easy. But it most certainly does not shrink when drying. As usual with epoxy products this putty consists of two components (the white and the green strip). Take equally much from each strip. Take some sparingly because you don't need very much in cases like this. |

I always mix it with a small screwdriver. My finger show how small the portion was that I took
Use an old (unsharp) X-Acto knife to apply.
and so I worked my way around the stack
This result looks terrible. Allow is to harden for at least 24 hours (48 is better) and then sand it flat. The less superfluous putty you apply the less after work you will have. |
