The etch set I bought contained only the parts that can be made of brass sheet. The three dimensional parts, usually made of white metal or cast brass, had to be bought separately. In the Dutch modelling scene there is but one major supplier of Dutch parts: Philotrain, also the manufacturer of the etch set. The set contained a list of brass parts to be ordered separately. When I went to Ontraxs 2010 I found one of the resellers of Philotrain parts, GM&S. I bought the majority of the parts.
The etch set may have been cheap (€ 50) and I may have been lucky finding a cheap BR93 (€ 60) but now it is pay time. The detail parts total approximately € 140, taking the total cost so far to €250. Considering the quality of the etch and the usual pricing of Dutch models not really expensive, but not a bargain either. |
